Interim Chief of Police Britta Steinbrenner                       

Interim Chief of Police Britta Steinbrenner joined California State University Channel Islands (ÌÇÐijöÆ·) in December 2025 as a Captain and currently serves as the University's Interim Chief of Police. She brings more than 35 years of law enforcement and public safety experience, with a career distinguished by leadership, service, and a commitment to community engagement.

Prior to joining ÌÇÐijöÆ·, Chief Steinbrenner served as Chief of the Pepperdine University Department of Public Safety. Before  transitioning to university policing, she dedicated 35 years of distinguished service to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, retiring as a Captain. Throughout her career, she held leadership assignments in Patrol, Custody, Court Services, Emergency Management, Risk Management, Media and Community Relations, and security services for county libraries, hospitals, and government facilities.

Chief Steinbrenner earned both her Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Business Administration, Management, and Organizational Leadership from the University of La Verne. She also graduated from the POST Sherman Block Supervisory Leadership Institute and the Cornell University leadership program.

Her leadership philosophy is grounded in service, collaboration, accountability, and building trust through strong community partnerships. She believes that public safety is most effective when rooted in relationships, transparency, and a shared commitment to the community's well-being.

Chief Steinbrenner considers it a privilege to serve the ÌÇÐijöÆ· community and work alongside faculty, staff, administrators, and students. She values the University's welcoming culture and its unwavering commitment to student success. As a proud member of the Dolphin family, she is especially grateful for the dedicated members of the University Police Department whose professionalism, compassion, and service help create an environment where students can learn, grow, and thrive.
